Friday, February 4th at Mr. Small's in Milvale, PA. will be the Bob Marley birthday celebration dubbed as the Winter Reggae Fest. Jamaican food and vendors will also be on hand. The doors open at 7:00 and the show begins at 8:00. Tickets are $15 in advance / $20 at the door if available. The capacity is very limited and only 500 tickets will be sold.
Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley, OM (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican singer-songwriter and musician. He was the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the ska, rocksteady and reggae bands The Wailers (1964–1974) and Bob Marley & The Wailers (1974–1981). Marley remains the most widely known and revered performer of reggae music, and is credited with helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement to a worldwide audience.
Pittsburgh is a special place for Marley historians because Bob Marley's last concert was in Pittsburgh on September 23, 1980 in the Stanley Theater. A historic 30 year anniversary took place at the same theater with most of the Marley family there on the same night, playing mostly the same set list. It was a fantastic show!
Come celebrate the King of Reggae as we honor the man with a night of culture featuring rare videos, plenty of Marley family music and a live performance from one of the longest running US reggae entertainers, Carlos Jones. His four decades of reggae music have included legendary runs with bands like I-Tal, First Light and his popular Peace, Love and Unity Syndicate Band. Dermott Hussey from satellite radio's "The Joint" has referred to Carlos Jones and the PLUS Band as "one of the best American reggae bands you will ever see!"
This event has limited capacity and is expected to sell out. Buy your tickets in advance at:
