B.E Mann

B.E.Mann started radio when he was only nine years old. His grandfather was an evangelical preacher whom had a radio show that aired in the west indies, and in Ghana Africa. His grandfather needed someone to operate the boards so he taught his grandson how to operate and do production. After awhile B.E.'s grandfather 'put him on the air' to read the letter of the week. Thus little B.E. took on a personality.
It was routinely that B.E. would receive fan letters, and musical tapes of a unique music. It was reggae. Being a curious youth B.E. began to digest all that he could about this music. NOT being raised on Marley, B.E. was exposed to the sounds of the Abyssinians, Big Youth, Jacob Miller, Chantells, Heptones, Ken Boothe, and many others of the 70's &80's eras. By the time he was 18 he owned well over 5000 vinyl reggae recordings.
In 1984 he was recruited to be a disc jockey at WAPS 89.1fm. He was the youngest d.j. ever on air in Akron. For several years he was a daily host for 5-8 hour shifts, but in 1991 was offered to host his own reggae show. Thus 'Reggae Rhythms From Around The World' was born. Two straight hours of an eclectic mix of reggae from yesterday &today, globally &locally. B.E. prides his show in not servicing to just a limited minded crowd, instead of delivering the broad scope of the world of reggae as it really is. It has been the most tuned in weekend program in Akron for several years.
B.E. just celebrated twenty years at the station.

B.E.Mann is also a studio &live performer having released sixteen releases to date.
For several years he fronted the King Ov Heartz reggae band, and in the mid 90's fronted Island records recording group 'Identity'.
He is co-actor on two nationwide kid t.v. shows, has performed 2200+ live shows,
was a reggae writer for PM magazine, Tab Magazine, and has freelanced articles in various publications. He also owns and operates his 'energy man' soundsystem.
